Lower the nozzle at least 30 cm down the pipe. Do this before turning on the pressure washer or beginning to spray.
Locate the sewer cleaning point and open it. This is the entrance to the main sewer line which is usually just outside the front of your house between your house and the city sewer line.
If you can still flush your toilet or water is still flowing into the sink, you may have partially clogged pipes. Turn on your water as hot as possible and let it run for 5-10 minutes to dissolve or break the clog.
If possible, determine the cause or source of the clogging. Unless a professional plumber comes and threads a video monitor down your pipe, it’s hard to know for sure where your clog is in the pipe. However, if you dump grease down your sewer all the time or there are giant trees right near your sewer line, you might be able to make an educated guess.
Shut off all water supply to your home to prevent further buildup. If you keep flushing the toilet or running water in the sink, the clog will only get worse. Turn off the main water faucet so that whatever is left in the pipes can drain out and there is no more water in the house.
Turn off the electric washing machine and remove the hose from the hose. Before removing the sewer jet from the hose, make sure the pressure washer is turned off and there is no water flowing out. Gently pull the hose up and detach it from the supply washer.
Mix baking soda and vinegar if a buildup of grease is clogging your pipe. Since baking soda is mildly caustic, it eats away any grease on the pipes. Mix one part baking soda and one part vinegar, then pour down drain cleanout. Wait at least an hour before rinsing with hot water.
Listen for the sound of the blockage unblocking. It should look like a jet of liquid in the pipes. When you hear this, you will know that you have successfully unblocked the line.
Put on protective goggles and rubber gloves. They will protect your eyes and skin from debris and sewage that may escape from the pipe. Water contaminated with sewage can carry harmful bacteria and diseases, so do your best to avoid exposing your skin to it.
Spray the water down the drain, continuing to run the hose down the pipe. When you first turn on the power washer and pull the trigger, you will feel a slight pull on the garden hose as it is pulled down. Lower the hose as you spray so that it runs through the entire sewer line to find the clog.
Securely attach the sewer jet to the electric washer trigger gun. A sewer jet fitting looks like a long hose with a nozzle at one end. Screw the other end tightly onto your pressure washer’s trigger gun or spray wand.
The hydrogen peroxide you keep in your medicine cabinet eats away clogs and kills any growth inside the pipes, making it harder for clogs to appear later. After putting it down the drain, wait 2-3 hours, then run hot water through the pipes.
